Abstract

The recruitment of young researchers with potential for teaching and research should prioritize their interaction with consolidated research centers in the country and abroad. With this, the aim is to propose challenges to young scientists as a way of maturing scientific thought and criticism. Added to the proposition, the transfer of solid knowledge and recent techniques. In this regard, the processing, in bioinformatics platforms, of data obtained by gene sequencing, for their respective interpretation, gains relevance. Relatively recent studies have demonstrated the clinical relevance of dysbiosis in the acute abdomen of horses and have contributed to a better understanding of the prodromal phase of intestinal dysfunction, of nutritional origin or related to changes in the microbiota. The activities planned for the scholarship holder will cover the extraction of material and genetic sequencing, training in bioinformatics platforms and interpretation of the results of stool samples, intestinal contents and peritoneal fluid collected in the first two experimental stages of the thematic project, ie: data analysis of fecal and peritoneal fluid samples from horses with clinical colic, without surgical resolution and analysis, for cases of surgical colic, related to fecal and intestinal microbiota, as well as peritoneal bacterial characterization, in case of transmural permeation. Subsequently, the scholarship holder will be able to participate, with the renewal of the scholarship from the other two experimental stages of the thematic project, where data from samples of intestinal and fecal content will be analyzed after overload of non-structural carbohydrates and the effects on the microbiota of horses and data analysis involving the administration of aminoglycosides and the microbiota of horses. Given the above, it is considered opportune that the participation of a postdoctoral fellow will provide training in the project's theme, will favor an interface with foreign researchers and will leverage the publication of research results in a journal with an impact factor.
