Evaluation of transport and deposition dynamics (runout) of shallow landslides in Serra do Mar Paulista

Abstract

The evaluation of susceptibility to landslides has been widely discussed in the literature. However, there are still few studies that identify the rupture, transport, and deposition zones. Thus, the aim of this research will be to evaluate the transport and deposition (runout) dynamics of shallow landslides in the Serra do Mar and its correlation with the geometric characteristics of the slopes. A widely affected hydrographic basin by shallow landslides in the municipality of Itaoca (SP) in January 2014 was selected. In relation to methodological procedures, (a) a refinement of the scar inventory will be performed using high-resolution RapidEye images and later (b) the transitions between the zones of rupture, transport and deposition will be established and (c) carried out correlations between the geomorphic characteristics of the hydrographic basin and the landslides. As a result, it is expected to generate a more complete event with the specific indication of the sectors of rupture, transport, and sediment deposition. (AU)
