The project Governança ambiental da macrometrópole paulista face à variabilidade climática (processo: 15//03804-9), known as MacroAmb, mobilizes researchers in different fields, such as water resources, environmental sanitation and biodiversity, in order to identify environmental problems in the São Paulo macro-metropolis and propose solutions based on interdisciplinary studies. The purpose is to present good environmental governance practices to decision makers and public policy makers for the metropolitan region of São Paulo, including areas such as the Piracicaba, Capivari and Jundiaí river basins, middle Tietê, Paraíba do Sul and Vale do Ribeira. To achieve these objectives, there are a number of challenges in the field of communication and scientific dissemination that need to be faced if the knowledge generated by scientific research is to have an impact on society. The scholarship granted by the José Reis Program for Incentive to Scientific Journalism (Science Media) of the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) is fundamental for the work developed by MacroAmb to reach the public and contribute to the debate on climate change through scientific dissemination initiatives conducted by the scientific journalism fellow.
