Phomactins are diterpenes that inhibit the receptor of the platelet aggregating factor. They also reduce the repopulation of tumor cells after radiation therapy. The fungus Biatriospora sp. CBMAI 1333 produces new phomactins. Bioinformatics analysis of the genome of Biatriospora sp. CBMAI 1333 indicated terpenes-cyclase that may be involved in the biosynthesis of phomactins. The present project consists of the complete elucidation of the biosynthesis pathway of phomactins produced by the fungus Biatriospora sp. CBMAI 1333. (AU)
