Abstract

Experimental demonstrations of Anderson localization of light has known many twists, with recent theoretical works claiming that vectorial waves (such as the electromagnetic ones) may actually not localize. This project aims at investigating the unambiguous signatures of the localization transition in 2D systems, as this configuration presents both scalar and vectorial scattering channels. We will investigate both the spatial correlations and the statistics of the scattered light, in order to find signatures of the localization transition, and demonstrate further the critical role of polarizations. Furthermore, we will investigate the role of weak nonlinearities on localization, stepping into the domain of many-body localization. (AU)
