Abstract

Radical hysterectomy is the treatment of choice for early cervical cancer, however it is a surgery associated with high rates of morbidity, which is related to some predictive factors, such as: obesity, parametrical / vaginal invasion, pre therapy operative and age. Minimally invasive hysterectomy presents itself as an option to reduce perioperative complications; however, it still needs to be evaluated regarding long-term results. Considering the absence of multivariate analyzes that determine which factors are related to a greater or lesser surgical morbidity of radical hysterectomy, after the beginning of the use of the laparoscopic approach, the present study is extremely necessary. Our hypothesis is that some factors can be considered predictive of perioperative morbidity in radical hysterectomy for the treatment of initial cervical cancer and that the morbidity factors are presented differently between the video and laparotomy techniques. Therefore, the study aims to perform a multivariate analysis of risk factors for perioperative morbidity in patients undergoing radical hysterectomy for the treatment of early cervical cancer, in addition to determining the risk rate of each factor and analyzing the rate of morbidity over the study period, comparing the results of open and laparoscopic techniques. Therefore, the medical records of women who underwent radical hysterectomy between 2009 and 2019 at the Hospital de Amor de Barretos will be reviewed. We believe that such an analysis can be of great future contribution in elucidating the surgical indication and preventing complications.
