Biomechanical effect of the dental materials used for fabrication of occlusal device in implant-supported prosthesis rehabilitation in situation of dental clench: a 3D finite element analysis

Abstract

The aim of this study will be to analyze the biomechanical behavior of three-unit fixed prostheses in situations of parafunction oral (clenching) varying the dental material used in the fabrication of the occlusal device (OC) by 3D finite element methods. Eight 3-D models will be simulated with the software In Vesalius, SolidWorks 2010, and Rhinoceros 4.0. Each model will be represented by a posterior maxillary bone section referring to the first premolar and first molar right with three dental implants (external hexagon) of 4mm of diameter and 7mm of length supporting 3-units fixed prosthesis varying the factors union (splinting), use of the OC and the material used for fabrication of OC (ethylvinylacetate - EVA, Polymethyl methacrylate - PMMA and Polyetheretherketone - PEEK). The OC will be modeled with 2mm of thickness for all used materials. The software ANSYS 19.2 will be used to generate the finite element models in the pre-and post-processing steps. The bone tissue will be analyzed by maximum principal stress and microstrain maps and the fixation screws and dental implants by the von Mises stress map. (AU)
