Abstract

The aim of this project is to study a class of nonlinear integrable equations constructed from an affine algebraic structure and the zero curvature representation. The algebraic methods employed are general and sistematic in order to construct a series of time evolution equations dubbed integrable hierarchy, its soliton solutions and Backlund transformations. The latter are employed to describe integrable defects which interpolate between two soliton solutions. (AU)
