Abstract

Cannabis sativa is used worldwide for recreational purposes due to its psychotropic properties induced by ”9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The plant contains several compounds among them, the cannabidiol (CBD), which has been a matter of investigation in diseases which affect the central nervous system such as epilepsy, schizophrenia, Parkinson's, and Alzheimer's diseases. The presence of CBD in plant extracts reaches 40% and has no psychoactive effect. The objective of this work is to evaluate the direct effect of CBD in a functional model representative of nervous system, which is the motor system. For that, the CBD will be exposed to neuromuscular preparations of mice and chick using a conventional myographic technique. The avian preparation allows to observe additional effects by contracture responses face to exogenous acetylcholine (ACh) and potassium chloride (KCl) addition. The results will be expressed as the mean ± SEM, and statistically objective using the t-Student test and Anova One way. The significance level will be 5% for all experiments, which will be analyzed using the Origin 9.5 statistical software. The study in both preparations will allow establishing the pharmacological profile of CBD in motor nervous system, especially on neuromuscular junction, of interest to understand its effect on diseases that affect the central nervous system, bring unprecedented contribution to this therapeutic agent approved for using by National Agency of Sanitary Vigilance (Anvisa).
