Abstract

The aim of this PhD research project is the study of problems of stability analysis and control design for nonlinear systems described by Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models with local stability. Continuous and discrete-time systems, performance criteria such as the H-2 and H-infinity norms, structural constraints (as decentralization and output feedback) and saturation are topics to be investigated. The methodology is based on fuzzy Lyapunov functions, that is, polynomial functions of arbitrary degree in the premise variables of the model, and linear matrix inequality optimization problems. To illustrate the results, models of engineering dynamical systems are used and comparisons with other techniques from the literature are performed. (AU)
