Comparison between different sources of perception in handball from the coaches and players perspective

Abstract

Handball is configured by a complex and dynamic system of simultaneous relations of cooperation and opposition, which gives it an unpredictable context, influenced by the interactions between players, which are directly linked to decision making. Decision making results from the interaction of other processes such as perception, attention and memory. Specifically about perception, a central element of this research project, different sources (auditory, visual, proprioceptive and tactile) can provide information about the game context to assist in choosing the best decision to be made. The aim of this study is to identify, compare and discuss the main sources of perception from the perspective of players and coaches and to analyze how these are emphasized in training sessions for college teams. The data will be collected through online questionnaires sent to all players and coaches of university teams that meet the inclusion criteria. To analyze and interpret the results, the principles of descriptive and inferential statistics (in quantitative analyzes) and thematic analysis (for qualitative data) will be used.
