Abstract

The regenerative process of the affected muscle by a traumatic injury is still a big challenge in the medical field, mainly when it has a big muscle loss exceeding the tissue´s capacity of regeneration. The area of regenerative medicine uses tools that include the use of stem cells and biomaterials to reconstruct the injured tissue or assist in tissue repair, which open perspects for a long extension muscle injury treatment. However, the main limitation is the survival of tissue cells. The skeletal muscle has been studied by potential reason of insulation of multipotent stem cells, recently two cells types have been isolated the Injured Muscle Derived Stem Cells (iMDSCs) and Muscle derived stem cells (MDSCs) which are cells with multipotents characteristics derivated of skeletal muscle with high capacity of differentiation, beyond that they present immunological privilege, may be used in allogeneic grafts. One of limitations of the cellular therapy is the low time of survival of these cells in the tissues, the use of biomaterial can solve this limitation. The alginate hydrogel is a biomaterial that has been used to cells encapsulation and has a lot of advantages such as low immunogenicity and facility obtaining. The cells encapsulation by alginate can increase the survival on tissue and help the regeneration of injured tissue. Thus, the goal of this project will be use the microgel to encapsulation of iMDSCs and MDSC to treatment of muscular injury. (AU)
