Abstract

Manganites are manganese oxides that play an important technological role due to their magnetocaloric properties and colossal magnetoresistance [1]. Some manganites have europium ions in their composition and such magnetic and luminescent properties also have not been studied as a function of pressure applied. In this work, La0,7Sr0,3MnO3 and La0,4Eu0,3Sr0,3MnO3 will be prepared by synthesis in the solid state by mixing the oxides of lanthanum, manganese, strontium and europium. Characterizations will be carried out by FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), XRD (x-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscopy), measurements of magnetization as a function of field, temperature, and photoluminescence. Manganites will be analyzed after applying different pressures to tablets in order to evaluate these effects on the structural, magnetic and luminescent properties.
