Abstract

This project aims to investigate how the process of relativization is characterized in locative contexts, in Paulista Portuguese. Our main hypothesis is that the constructions headed by onde, que and em que are in a process of variation given the multifunctionality of the first, onde (BRAGA , MANFILI, 2004; LIMA, 2007; RABBIT, 2001; SOUZA, 2003; SILVA, 2008; CROWN, LIMA, 2014; MARINE, 1999; ALMEIDA, BERLINCK, 2019). For this, we will take as theoretical and methodological basis the literature on relativization strategies in Brazilian Portuguese (MOLLICA, 1977; TARALLO, 1983, 1985; CAMACHO, 2013, 2017; RIBEIRO, 2009; BARROS, 2000; BURGOS, 2003), together with the Theory of Language Variation and Change approach. (WEINREICH, LABOV, HERZOG, 1968; LABOV, 1972, 1982, 1994, 2001, 2010). The corpus will be built based on IBORUNA databases, from the ALIP project (Gonçalves, s.d) and Project SP2010: São Paulo Speech Sample (MENDES, 2013). Data collection and subsequent quantification will be produced with the aid of the R programming language (CORE TEAM, 2018). (AU)
