Abstract

The flow-induced vibrations have become a major concern for the offshore industry when oil exploration reached so-called ultra-deep watersdeep. As marine currents change their direction and direction along the length of the ducts, it is practically impossible to prevent some of the pipes (risers) are subject to interference with the other structures submerged. As a result, the possibility of risers developing severe vibrations or if they collide it increases dangerously. In the present research project, we propose a experimental investigation of the dynamic response of vibrations induced by the treadmill (WIV) according to dynamic system parameters. These experimental data will feed prediction models for the dynamic response of blunt bodies subjected to WIV, be used as engineering design tools in naval and oceanic systems.
