The impact of COVID-19 on population in street situation and the access to information about the pandemic in the context of Ribeirão Preto

Abstract

The current project is part of a larger research project coordinated by Fiocruz, in partnership with Universidade Nova de Lisboa, EERP-USP and FMRP-USP, which is a comparative survey to measure the population reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of this project is to understand the impact of COVID-19 on the Population in Street Situation of Ribeirão Preto and their access to information in relation to the Pandemic. It is a quantitative-qualitative survey type survey and open qualitative questions, in which a questionnaire will be applied to people living on the streets. The questionnaire is a model adapted from the Social Thermometer instrument developed by WHO and validated by researchers from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and will be applied by the Fiocruz team, together with the Brazilian population. The analysis of the empirical material will be carried out based on descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Open questions will be added to this project in order to find out how the access of people participating to information about the pandemic occurred. This material will be analyzed based on the methodological framework of Minayo's thematic analysis.
