Abstract

The Cassegrain U-Band Efficient Spectrograph (CUBES), is the forthcoming ESO VLT spectrograph to be installed at one Cassegrain focus of the VLT with the goal of covering with a high efficiency the UV ground-based region (300 - 400 nm) with intermediate resolution (about 20K).CUBES is a multinational project from ESO partners and Brazil, which is represented here by IAG/USP and LNA/MCTI. We are responsible for delivering the Calibration System for the spectrograph and collaborating in the Science Requirements, Mechanics and Control System. In this work we will analyze the wavelength calibration efficiency of different calibration sources, using spectral simulations and spectral synthesis in order to define the better line lamp for the spectrograph. Due its experience and background (precious in the astronomical community), the student will also collaborate in the development of the control system software with the LNA engineer team.
