High-precision calculations in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) are one of the main challenges in high-energy physics and are crucial for beyond standard model searches at the LHC and future facilities. In this project, we will apply the techniques developed by members of the Particle Physics group of University of Vienna to improve the theoretical understanding of several processes that can be calculated in QCD, and that are at present being studied by our group at IFSC-USP. The first goal of the project is to apply the R-evolution formalism to sharpen our knowledge about the Borel transformed Adler function, which should lead to a much more precise prediction for the semi-hadronic tau decays and for the cross section of e^+e^- to hadrons below the charm threshold. Similar methods can be applied to the study of the charm pseudo-scalar correlator. We will also investigate the use of ratios of moments of electroproduction data in the non-relativistic regime as a novel and reliable source of information about the strong coupling. Our work should lead to fundamental discoveries in the field as well as to much more reliable extractions of fundamental QCD parameters, such as the strong coupling and the charm quark mass. (AU)
