Abstract

Given the global need for sustainable sources of energy, there is a high demand for obtaining varieties of energy cane, characterized by a greater accumulation of biomass and fibers. Therefore, studying the metabolism and carbon flow, determinants of the balance of sucrose and fibers produced by the plant is essential. Our research group has used different strategies to study carbon metabolism in sugarcane. A substantial set of data was obtained and requires thorough exploration by multiple approaches, among which the validation of differential gene expression, detected in different experiments, stands out. In this Scientific Initiation Project, the validation of 10 differentially expressed genes, using the quantitative PCR technique (qPCR), is proposed.
