Abstract

Total edentulism affects a significant portion of the population, especially the elderly, and this condition impacts on the systemic health and the general well-being of persons. Although the requirements of retention, support, stability and aesthetics with consequent patient satisfaction can be obtained through prosthetic rehabilitation associated with osseointegrated titanium implants, rehabilitation with conventional complete dentures is still the most accessible for the Brazilian population and is the principal option offered by the public health system (SUS) in Brazil. Even though this option has being used for centuries, many patients have difficulty adaptation adapting to it, besides the functional and social limitations. Edentulism and its implications, associated with increased life expectancy, deserve attention from professionals and public government. Thus, this cross-sectional, exploratory and descriptive study with a quantitative approach aims to: 1. Raise Evaluate the profile of 360 users of full complete dentures treated attended at the Faculty of Dentistry of Ribeirão Preto, in during the period from 2017 to 2019 through the collection of clinical records; 2. Assess, by presential interview, the profile and the impact of edentulism and rehabilitation with full complete dentures on the quality of life (OHIP-EDENT 19) of sample of individuals in clinical care in the Total Prosthesis discipline in 2020/2021. The data collected referring to the participants' epidemiological profile will be analyzed and exposed descriptively. Correlations between quality of life, epidemiological profile and clinical characteristics of the participants will be tested using the Sperman Correlation test with a significance level of 0.05confidence interval of 95%. The analyzes will be conducted with the aid of the statistical software SPSS 21.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA).
