This project aims to study the dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of benzyl amines using nickel catalysts in different supports: dolomite, BaSO4 and MgCO3. DKR is a reaction in which a kinetic resolution step of a racemate is combined with racemization of the undesired enantiomer by the use of an enzyme and a metal catalyst, being very important for the synthesis of asymmetric compounds, which are important in the manufacture of many drugs and biologically active compounds. In this proposal, the activities of each metallic catalyst will be evaluated, as well as the reaction conditions that lead to the molecules of interest in better yields and enantioselectivities.Initial catalytic activity tests will be performed with the model compound, 1-phenylethylamine. Next, we will study the possibility of reuse of the metal catalyst. In addition, we will extend studies of DKR reactions to functionalized compounds in order to analyze reactivity and the possibility of use as building blocks in synthetic sequences.
