Abstract

The removal of dyes from liquid effluents from industrialists using these types of chemical compounds is essential before dumping waste into water bodies, or before proceeding to sewage treatment plants. This is because dyes reduce the water's reoxygenation capacity, hinder the passage of sunlight, in addition to being carcinogenic. The removal of dyes can be done by the photo-Fenton and photocatalysis methods, however, these should lead to complete degradation of the dye so that more toxic intermediate compounds are not generated, whereas the adsorption process removes the compound without degrading it. Although the adsorption process generates a waste that needs to be disposed of properly, it is still economically viable from an industrial point of view. In this context, ceramic oxides such as CaZrO3 prepared by the microwave-assisted hydrothermal method (HAM), although until now there are no data in the scientific literature on use as an adsorbent, preliminary tests show that that oxide can be used. Ceramic oxides have advantages such as thermal and chemical resistance to degradation. Therefore, the objective of this research is to use CaZrO3-HAM to determine the adsorption isotherm of four industrial dyes.
