The oral aspect is a significant issue in the personal life of individuals, once it directly affects the self-esteem and quality of life of the population, especially when related to early tooth loss. Aware of this, the use of prostheses and the installation of dental implants are solutions for oral rehabilitation. However, the installation of osseointegrated dental implants is often made impossible because the resorption of the alveolar process in the posterior region of the maxilla, since adequate bone quantity and quality is required. In these cases, an alternative for bone reconstruction is access to the maxillary sinus by elevating the sinus membrane using grafts to fill the created cavity, being considered the autogenous bone the "gold standard". Otherwise, its use also has disadvantages and limitations. Therefore, several studies have been developed in order to produce bone substitutes that have appropriate biomechanical properties and are able to meet the needs expected in bone reconstructions. Thus, this study aims to evaluate by the volumetric analysis obtained with cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) the behavior of the Cerabone® biomaterial, and discuss its neoformation and bone resorption properties, in addition to its effectiveness for use in grafts. compared to autogenous bone.
