Abstract

Chronic use of ergogenic resources, such as b-alanine, is widely investigated given its positive effects on performance and physical training quality. However, is unclear the knowledge about the effects of the quality of physical training, enhanced by b-alanine, on the anti-inflammatory responses, typically associated with exercise training, on systemic and tissue levels. Thus, the purpose of the present project will be to investigate the effects of 12 weeks of b-alanine supplementation associated with high-intensity interval training on intramuscular and systemic inflammatory modulations. In this perspective, 20 healthy volunteers will be recruited and divided randomly into b-alanine (6.4 g.day-1) or placebo (dextrose) groups that, after 6 weeks of supplementation, will performed 6 weeks of high-intensity interval training, associated with supplementation, in a sprint protocol (10 sprints with 1min effort: 1 min pause) with frequency of three sessions/weekly. Pre and post-intervention, body composition, nutritional habits, cardiorespiratory fitness, blood collection and muscle biopsy will be collected. (AU)
