Abstract

The research has as study object the Closed Residential Spaces of Presidente Prudente Northwest portion and, more specifically, the practices of its residents. It will be realized in connection with Gasperr (abbreviation in Portuguese for Space Production and Regional Redefinitions Research Group), where it was realized a research (FAPESP, 2008 to 2012), on the expansion of Closed Residential Spaces in three medium-sized cities in São Paulo state, Presidente Prudente, Marília e São Carlos, resulting on the book named as "Closed Spaces and Cities: urban insecurity and socio-spatial fragmentation" (SPOSITO; GÓES, 2013). Currently, there is evidence of spatial practice inside the walls that weren't in that context, highlighting the recent implementation of a street commerce inside the communal areas in this Closed Residential Spaces. The aim is to identify the impacts of those practices on the urban space production. The main questions to be responded, through visits to some of these spaces and interviews with some of the residents, are: do such intramural practices affect practices outside the walls, in public spaces? How and for what purpose did this practice arise within this closed residential spaces? Whose initiative was it? What was its objective? How does this influence the sociability relationships among its residents? Is it present in all of them? Anyway, what has changed since the previous research was conducted? Is it present in all of them? Anyway, what has changed since the previous survey was conducted?
