Abstract

The 1990s correspond to the first full decade of democratic reopening in Brazil and in Argentina after long periods of military dictatorship. In this context, social movements focused on women's rights are emerging, which in the case of Argentina are related to the mobilizations by pro-abortion feminism and the creation of the Quota Law responsible for boosting female parliamentary representation (BELLUCCI, 2017), and in case of Brazil are linked to the emergence of organizations focused on women's rights and the institutionalization of feminist movements (AVELAR; RANGEL, 2017).In this scenario of the emergence of social mobilizations and the fall of censorship that characterized the military regimes in both countries, punk bands with themes focused on feminism and gender violence appear, incited mainly by the Riot Grrrl movement that occurred in the United States in the first half of the 90s (MARCUS, 2010).The purpose of this project is to make a comparative discursive analysis of gender violence expressed in the lyrics of feminist punk bands from Brazil and Argentina during the 1990s. It will be also used the studies developed in the areas of Philosophy, Sociology, Anthropology and History.
