This research aims to study the use of electromechanical appliances in kitchens in São Paulo between 1908 and 1960. From the understanding of social relations that shaped the domestic space in the first half of the twentieth century, we seek to analyze the dynamics superposed in the circulation and consumption of these utensils. The insertion and performance of these artifacts would contribute to the shaping of a "modern kitchen" that in the city of São Paulo would have been guided by the logic of sanitarism and rationalization of housework. The discussions and questions that we will present in this project are part of the subproject "Processamento de Alimentos no Espaço Doméstico, São Paulo, 1860-1960" which integrates the thematic project "Coletar, Identificar, Difundir. O Ciclo Curatorial e a Produção de Conhecimento". More broadly, therefore, this project contributes to systematic documentation of objects circulating in the domestic environment between late 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
