The aim of the study will be to evaluate whether the combination of treatments with fluoridated toothpastes and supplemented with sodium trimetaphosphate (TMP) and casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACPF) (MI Paste Plus®) can increase the remineralization of initial lesions caries. Bovine enamel blocks (4 mm × 4 mm, n = 72) will be selected by the initial surface hardness (SH). Then they will be subjected to the induction of artificial caries lesions and the post-demineralization hardness (SH1) will be determined. Blocks will be divided into 6 treatment groups (n = 12): 1) Dentifrice without F (Placebo); 2) Toothpaste with 1100 ppm F (1100F), 3) MI Paste Plus®, 4) Toothpaste with 1100 ppm F associated with MI Paste Plus® (1100F-MI Paste Plus®), 5) Toothpaste with 1100 ppm F associated with 3 % TMP (1100F-TMP) and 6) Dentifrice with 1100 ppm F + 3% TMP associated with MI Paste Plus® (1100F-TMP-MI Paste Plus®). The blocks will be subjected to 6 pH cycles for 6 days. For all groups, treatments will be performed twice a day for 1 minute, except for group 6, which after treatment with 1100F-TMP, MI Paste Plus® will be applied for 3 minutes. After pH cycling, the final surface hardness (SH2) will be determined for the calculation of the percentage of surface hardness recovery (% SHR), integrated loss of subsurface hardness (”KHN) and fluoride concentration (F), calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) in the enamel. The data will be subjected to normality and homogeneity tests to use the most appropriate statistical test.
