Abstract

In this IC project, we intend to revisit the rules of mass superselection of non-relativistic quantum mechanics. This result taken alone seems to lead to contradictions with the non-relativistic limit of relativistic quantum mechanics. Recent results suggest that non-relativistic quantum mechanics must be endowed with the information that energy has weight, E = m c ^ 2, if it is expected to correctly reproduce the low-speed results of relativistic quantum mechanics. This study is interesting by its own right as well as can be considered the first step towards an interesting current area of research that aims to gain insights into quantum gravity from very low energies physics.
