Abstract

In this master's project, we will microfabricate optical cavities, which will be optimized in order to explore the non-linear process of four wave mixing (4WM). In the first stage, these cavities will be fabricated in thin films of silicon nitride (Si3N4) by using ebeam lithography and plasma etching. In the second stage, two parameters will be optimized: optical losses (characterized by optical quality factor) and parametric gain (characterized by dispersion measurements).
