Abstract

The use of renewable energy, such as from the sun, is considered a viable alternative to excessive consumption of fossil fuels. However, the use of renewable energy on a large scale is still a challenge due to its intermittency. A solution to solve the lack of correspondence between demand and consumption is to obtain fuels from totally renewable sources, which can be generated from abundant compounds, such as CO2 and H2O, using the renewable energy as source. The study of semiconductors and the presence of multiphase co-catalysts are interesting strategies for designing photocatalysts and active photoelectrodes to obtain renewable fuels. In this context, this project proposes the preparation of BiVO4 by microwave, and to evaluate the effect of adding nickel and iron toward the photocatalytic activity for CO2 reduction. (AU)
