Abstract

The present proposal aims to implement a numerical data assimilation model for the Continental Shelf of São Paulo using information provided by gliders, coastal stations and satellites. In this implementation, past data sets from integrating projects over the region will be used to determine the most efficient sampling schemes for the model. The implementation of this model has the potential to provide not only a robust methodology for addressing scientific issues, but also a useful product for the society capable of assisting in the activities and planning of coastal regions. The subject of this proposal fits the activities developed by the Coastal Hydrodynamics Laboratory (LHiCo), of the Oceanographic Institute of the University of of São Paulo. The activities under this proposal will be executed at the Center for Ocean Observing Leadership, of Rutgers University, hosted by Dr. Scott Glenn and Dr. Travis Miles. (AU)
