Abstract

The NUMEN project aim is the extensive measurement of Double Charge Exchange (DCE) nuclear reactions which have a strict connection with Neutrino Physics. From these measurements, relevant information can be obtained regarding the Nuclear Matrix Elements of Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay (NLDBD) which could guide the theoretical development of new physics beyond the Standard Model. The G-Numen project is the gamma detector array spectrometer which in several cases is needed for the separate measurement of the production cross sections of the ground state (gs) and first excited states of project-like and target-like DCE reaction fragments (PLF, TLF, respectively). The gamma spectrometer will operate in coincidence with the PLF detected at the focal plane of the MAGNEX magnetic spectrometer system. Its development, through simulations, prototype tests and mechanical design, constitute the main objective of the present request. Additional support measurements will be performed, including a DCE experiment with present-day experimental conditions, in order to validate the simulations and qualify the detectors and associated electronics.
