Aesthetic experience as an horizon for reconstructing the concept of freedom

Abstract

The objective of this research is to recover what we can call "an aesthetic matrix of autonomy" from, mainly, the contemporary configuration of works of art and materials, in order to explore an alternative way for discussions about emancipation and recognition. This means to insist on the need to orient the normative horizon of our emancipation expectations from a concept that rejects the aspirations of identity and self-belonging linked to the hegemonic understandings of moral autonomy and that questions strict dichotomies between autonomy and heteronomy. This entails systematically exploring what authors such as Derrida have termed, in a paradigmatic and other context, as 'heterosexuality without servitude' in order to draw an alternative to the contemporary understanding of emancipation processes from the ever-present latencies within aesthetics experiences since the configuration of their autonomy strategies.
