Abstract

This Research Project is a proposal for an Internship Abroad Research Program (BEPE-IC). It aims to expand and update the knowledge of the theoretical interface between Postcolonial studies and World-Literature. The intersection between these two fields of study has been thoroughly examined by the Warwick Research Collective (WREC), at the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies of University of Warwick. The main Scientific Initiation Project (FAPESP- Ref. 2018/25027-2) seeks to analyze the relation between Postcolonial studies and Brazilian studies, looking into theoretical insights from the short story "A menor mulher do mundo", written by Clarice Lispector. A deeper contact with the latest Postcolonial theory, formulated by WREC, is fundamental for coherent analysis. The main assumption of this research is that postcolonial critique may have different ideological configurations according to the various contours that colonial experiences can take across the globe. In that context, WREC's perspective of a social totality that is combined and unequal helps us to make a comparative study between Postcolonial theories, Lispector's short story and the knowledge produced by the Brazilian social thought.
