Abstract

The propose of this work is to evaluate the mechanical characteristics of the synthesized Titanium alloy using Niobium and Tin elements as alloying elements to reduce stiffness and approach bone tissue, and by adding magnesium to promote porosity formation and increase the biocompatibility. In addition the same alloy will be synthesized, but without the addition of magnesium, as a control material. Firstly, the materials will be made (n = 70) by the powder metallurgy method using the dimensions of the materials according to ASTM technical standards. Materials will be made for mechanical tensile (ASTM E 8M), compression (ASTM E9M), fatigue (ASTM E466-15, ASTM E606 / E606M - 12), torsion (ASTM E588-83) and hardness, which predict the quality of this synthesized material. After fabrication, the materials will be polished using a diamond paste to eliminate any irregularities that may influence the results obtained during the tests. Confirmation of the quality of finishes will be made using the metallographic optical microscope. After the tests, will be evaluated by scanning and transmission electron microscopy the fractures and cracks resulting from the tests to predict the quality of these materials. After that, the quantitative data will pass a normality test, followed by the T-test or Mann-Whitney test. Values will be considered statistically significant when P <0.05. (AU)
