Abstract

This project has as its central objective the collection of the indispensable documentation for the Master research. In this study, we intend to analyze the coffee and sugar economies in the French colony of Saint-Domingue from 1790 to 1803, in other words, during the Haitian Revolution. It is a continuation of a previous research, also funded by FAPESP. We now seek to deepen the data founded in the past by reading reports of contemporaries, notary archives and legislation and other legislative documents. Such documentation is mostly found in the Archives Nationales in Paris, and the Archives Nationales d'Outre-Mer in Aix-en-Provence. Therefore, the internship consists of consulting the archives in loco in order to gather the necessary research sources. With these we aim to better understand the progress of the plantation system in the midst of the slave revolution. (AU)
