Abstract

Brazil has approximately 22 millions elderly people and it's estimated that this number triplicate by 2040. The expressive increased of longevity offers challenges and opportunities for the models of care for the elderly and also instigate reflections about how the they are perceived in these places and the consequences that may be established in face of this. This study will contribute to the knowledge of the relationships between the aging stereotypes and the organizational culture in Long Term Care Institutions for Elders. It's a research with a qualitative multiple-case study approach, with the purpose of obtaining evidences and categorizations. The aimed is to analyzed how the aging stereotypes, as perceived by the users and those who work at these institutions, are reflected by cultural traits. For acquiring data, it will be used the following measures: Field Observations and a Case Study Protocol, compost by Initial Procedures and a Semi-Structured Interview. Data will be organized and analyzed through the software Atlas-Ti. It's expected that the results of this study may help these institutions create initiatives that promote cultural change and a strategic management that enhance the stereotypes positives and minimize the stereotypes negatives, ensuring, thus, new ways of caring and the resignification of aging.
