Abstract Low Ionization Nuclear Emission Region (LINERs) galaxies are very interesting and common objects, as they appear in about one-third of the galaxies in the local universe. The ionizing source of LINERs is not well understood and there are no reliable methods to estimate the chemical abundances of these objects. Using data from the survey MaNGA (Mapping Nearby Galaxies at Apache Observatory), which comprises integral field spectroscopy at a wavelength range of 3,600 A to 10,000 A with a resolution of R~2000, we will investigate the nature of the ionizing source and the chemical abundance of a sample containing 90 galaxies with LINER-type emission. Results of photoionization models built with Cloudy code and assuming different sources of ionization will be compared with observational data of the sample. Calibrations between emission line ratios and metallicity will be proposed. (AU) | |
