Abstract

Protection and rational use of biodiversity and natural resources depend on knowing biological richness' composition and distribution. Seeking this purpose and aiming for a better understanding of the chemical content of different extracts, new tools for the dereplication of natural products have been developed, reducing the cost and the time spent on the analyzes. These tools can be used on integrative approach studies, in which classical methods, such as the biological evaluation of extracts and mass spectrometry, are applied together with new techniques, as metabolomic analysis integrated to the Global Natural Products Social Molecular Networking (GNPS), for example. This strategy may help in the elucidation of compounds with potential biological activity, making this a faster process and avoiding the re-isolation of compound already known to have the searched activities. Therefore, the presented proposal aims to use new tools to widely study the secondary metabolites produced by diverse cultures of marine actinomycetes. The evaluation will also support the isolation study of selected candidates, and these purified compounds will be directed to cytotoxic evaluation against the cell lines studied in the Thematic Project #2015/17177-6, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Letícia Veras Costa Lotufo. In addition to that, all the extracts will be also tested to insecticidal activity on the immature (egg, larvae and pupae) and/or adult forms of the Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, meeting the demands of the ArboControl Brasil project: a network composed by Brazilian and international research institutes funded by the Brazilian Ministry of Health, which search for solutions to problems related to Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya - tropical diseases spread by the same vector, the Aedes aegypti. The presented preliminary results point to a great structural diversity on the substances detected in the analyzed extracts, besides an important biotechnological potential as from the marine actinomycetes.
