The study is interested in the dimension of material culture, thinking about the association between the market and science teaching, mainly in the sense of understanding and analyzing what are the possible relations between the market and the circulation of natural and industrial goods with scientific knowledge. . It aims to study a type of didactic material, prominently designed for the teaching of natural history, but produced from economic expectations, in this project generically called "commercial school museum". What are these commercial museums and what representations of science do they hold? How is natural history understood by thinking about industrialized materials? By hypothesis there was a hybrid knowledge that instilled ideas of progress in the classifications of natural history. The following will be studied: the museum box of Dr. Charles Saffray; parcels of the Luigi Bombicci Museum; Philadelphia Cabinets and industrial museums in parietal frame format. Collections will be studied in Brazil, the Public Archive of the State of São Paulo (Funds: Public Instruction and Secretariat of Business, Agriculture, Commerce, Industry); the newspaper library, among others. In Spain, the Archives of the Comunidad de Madrid refer to and collections indicated by the research supervisor. It is an interdisciplinary, inter-institutional research project located at the interface between the history of education and the history of science, with references related to economics, anthropology, museology and history.
