Abstract

Understanding the role of the biosphere in the climate and hydrological regimes and its social impact is a global priority of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)/Urban Integrated Weather, Environment and Climate Services, with the aim to foster information to energy, water and food security, biodiversity conservation and human well being in rural and urban areas. This proposal aims to estimate surface hydroclimatological patterns in areas of the Cerrado and Atlântic Forest biomes, by implementing and using a biophysical model, with high spatio-temporal resolution, and based on : field measures at experimental areas of the the Clima e Biosfera Lab at IAG/USP, rainfall and discharge data for fluxes calibration; of spectral vegetation satélite indexes; climate variables with high spatial resolution provided by statistical models, and so to provide products of energy balance (with emphasys on available energy and evapotranspiration) and water availability (specially soil moisture, discharge and acquifer recharge) at small catchments.
