Abstract

At the beginning of the 21st century, Brazil emerged as a destination for a significant number of international immigrants, especially Haitians, who after the 2010 earthquake and social vulnerability, motivated by abyssal extremes of poverty, have flocked to the thousands to Brazil in search employment and decent living conditions. In Brazilian territory, these immigrant workers were sent to shelters in Acre, where they waited for the issuance of documents and regularization by the authorities to reside and work in the country. Many companies went to the camps to recruit immigrants, already legalized for work, at which time the insertion of this workforce in the Brazilian labor market is beginning to be conceived, through processes of selection, agency, non-formal hiring, which will add to work processes that impose exhaustive hours, combined with low wages and exposure to health risks, because most of the vacancies offered are in the refrigerators located in the Center-South portion of the country, among them the GT Foods company based in Maringa in the state of Paraná. Our goal is to understand the spatial mobility of work, from the migration of Haitians to work in the slaughter and processing of chickens in Maringá (PR), specifically within the GT Foods company. Our attention is focused on the systemic degradation of work, that is, on the living and health conditions of Haitian workers who have migrated to work in Brazil, with special attention to the occupational dimension, the conditions and the consequences of this process, given the perversity of exploitation. that capital imposes on them, besides investigating possible actions of resistance and confrontation with the capital. We chose to use qualitative methodologies, limited to semi-structured interviews covering the subjects involved in the research universe, besides collecting and analyzing secondary data extracted from public agencies and private entities.
