Abstract

Native fruits with great potential for consumption, such as cambuci (Campomanesia phea O. Berg Landrum) and uvaia (Eugenia pyriformis Cambess), present bioactive compounds and antioxidants that can help maintain human health. However, knowledge about the presence of these compounds in these fruits is still scarce. This project aims to determine the bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity of cambuci and uvaia - using the vegetal material from the characterization collection of the Laboratory of Postharvest of Horticultural Products (ESALQ / USP). Analyzes of vitamin C, carotenoids, tannins and antioxidant activity measured by ABTS, ORAC and hypochlorous acid radical will be performed. The results will be submitted to analysis of variance (ANOVA), Tukey test and multivariate analysis of main components (PCA) and grouping, using the software Assistat and Statistica 7. With these results, it is expected to increase the understanding about the bioactive compounds of these fruits, generating unprecedented knowledge on the subject. (AU)
