The study of CaCu3Ti4O12 (CCTO) based ceramics have received growing attention of the scientific community, which is justitified by its multifunctionality, as it can be applied in lasers, photocatalysis, LEDs, capacitors, varistors, etc. The objective of this project is to study the effect of Cr3+ additions to CCTO on the optical response of ceramic powders prepared using the solid state reaction method, as well as on the nonohmic and dielectric properties of bulks. The effect X % Cr3+ addition, with X = 0.00, 0.01, 0.02, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.25 in weight, on the (micro)structural, optical and (di)electrical properties of CCTO will be analyzed. Long, medium and short range structure of the powders will bill analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescent response, Ultraviolet visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) and Raman spectroscopy, respectively. The photocatalytic response of the powders will also be studied, and the microstructure will be evaluated using scanning eléctron microscopy (FEG-SEM). XRD/ Rietveld analysis and FEG-SEM will be used to characterized the (micro)structure of the bulk ceramics. The dielectric response will be characterized using impedance spectroscopy (IE) at diferente temperatures and, current-voltage (I-V) measurements will be used to determine the nonohmic behavior of the material.
