Abstract

The aim of this trial will be evaluate effects of castration on dry matter intake, performance, feed conversion, carcass traits and fiber muscle gene expression in F1 Angus-Nellore cattle finished in feedlot. Six hundred forty animals will be used (three hundred twenty intact males and three hundred and twenty castrated males). For gene expression analyses will be used forty samples (20 intact and 20 castrated). Will be evaluated next genes:MyHC-I (Myosin heavy chain type I), MyHC-IIa (Myosin heavy chain type IIa) e MyHC-IIx (Myosin heavy chain type IIx) Statistical analyses will be performed using Mixed Procedure of SAS software.
