The tribe Malvavisceae (Malvoideae, Malvaceae) in the Serra do Cipó, Minas Gerais

Abstract

Malvavisceae is one of five tribes of Malvoideae presenting 8 genera: Anotea, Malachra, Malvaviscus, Phragmocarpidium, Rojasimalva, Urena, Pavonia and Peltaea, the last two genera occuring in Serra do Cipó. The Serra do Cipó is located in Minas Gerais in the southern region of the Espinhaço Mountain range and presents the vegetation formed by a group of very diverse communities, predominating the campos rupestres enviroment. The last study focusing on Malvaceae was developed in the area in the late 1980s, and there has been an increase in the number of taxa that were not treated at that time. Hence this research aims to do the current survey of the species of the Malvavisceae in the unit of conservation cited through materials from collections in the region and exsicates deposited in the herbariums that house collections from the study area. The materials will be analyze at the Laboratory of Plant Systematics of the University of Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo based on morphological characters. The taxonomic treatment will produced including identification keys for genera and species, descriptions, examined materials, taxonomic comments and phenology, as well as the classification of the taxa according to IUCN (2017).
