Abstract

To solve the problem related to optimization of multi-circuit multi-voltage transmission lines (MCMVTLs) the authors propose a mathematical model in which the objective is to increase the natural capacity of MCMVTLs and reduce costs, right of way (ROW) and tower height. The problem is solved by using a natural computer algorithm for multi-objective problems called A fast and elitist multi-objective genetic algorithm (NSGA-II). As a result, promissory geometries of MCMVTLs were conceived. However, to use the obtained solutions in actual systems still is necessary to evaluate different aspects such as transient response, mitigation of overvoltages, and secondary arc current reduction, aspect that will be addressed on the BEPE-DR. Nonetheless, those studies are very high time consuming. In this way, the goal of this Doctorate Research Internship Abroad is to find ways to develop those studies in a faster way. Therefore, to achieve this goal we propose to use parallel computing. Thereby, collaboration with professor Aniruddha M. Gole from University of Manitoba in Winnipeg-Canada is an excellent choice, due to his experience with parallel simulations in power systems. Eventually, the capacity obtained during the BEPE-DR could be applied not only in this project, but also in different power system problems.
