In this project, it is proposed the study of the synthesis, densification and analysis of microstructural, structural, dielectric, magnetic and magnetoelectric properties of single-phase (x)Pb(Fe0.50,Nb0.50)O3-(1-x)Pb(Zr0.53,Ti0.47)O3 [xPFN-(1-x)PZT] multiferroic ceramics. In order to achieve such objective, it is proposed the synthesizes of powders and maximization of the densification of xPFN-(1-x)PZT ceramics for x between 0.10and 0.30, by using the conventional solid state oxide mixing and conventional sintering route. Besides the training of undergraduate student, we intend to dominate the production of xPFN-(1-x)PZT ceramics with high structural and microstructural qualities and, mainly, to characterize the coexistence and coupling between the electrical and magnetic properties of this system. Additionally, we intend to contribute to a better understanding of the phase diagram of this system in the compositional range investigated. The main objectives of this project are: 1-) synthesis of (x) Pb (Fe0.50, Nb0.50) O3-(1-x) Pb (Zr0.53, Ti0.47)O3 powders for x between 0.10 and 0.30; 2-) investigation and maximization of the densification of xPFN-(1-x) PZT ceramics by conventional sintering in a resistive furnace; 3-) characterization of microstructural and structural properties of the ceramic bodies produced; 4-) characterization of dielectric, ferroelectric and magnetoelectric properties; 5-) Contribution to the characterization of xPFN-(1-x)PZT for x between 0.10 and 0.30; 6-) training of human resources at the undergraduate level.
