Abstract

In the absence of direct observation of Beyond Standard Model physics in the LHC, precise tests of the theory require increasing precision. The decay width of the Higgs boson into gluons is known up to fourth order in the strong coupling, alpha_s. In this work, we will study the effects due to higher-order QCD corrections in this decay. The main calculation of this project will be performed in the large-beta_0 limit of QCD, where the perturbative series is known to all orders in alpha_s. Our goal is to rigorously predict the neglected contributions in the present theoretical calculation and obtain, in a reliable way, the theoretical uncertainties associated with the truncation of the perturbative series. The best prescription for the renormalization-scale setting in the process will also be studied. (AU)
